By registering an app and by accessing the Sentinel API, you are confirming that you have read and understood these API Terms of Use and the Sentinel Terms of Use and Privacy Policy and will respect and abide by them. If your use of the Sentinel API breaches any of these terms, we reserve the right to revoke your API access without notice.
To access the Sentinel API, you will first need to register your app. To register, send an email to support@sentinelmarine.net. When you've done that, we'll issue you with a client ID and client secret. Your client ID is required for all calls to the Sentinel API.
Make sure you look after your client secret. If your client secret is lost or stolen, or if you believe that your client secret has been used without your permission, you'll need to tell us immediately.
We hereby grant to you a revocable, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferrable license to access and use the Sentinel API solely to facilitate your development of applications that interface with the Services in accordance with these API Terms of Service and the Sentinel API Documentation (each such application, an “Application”).
You will not use or access the Sentinel API in any way not expressly permitted under these API Terms of Use. You will not use Sentinel API and its data to develop or help someone else to develop a competing product, or similar product with a competitive features to Sentinel’s products.
If we have reason to believe that you are acting in breach of these API Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy, or if we object to your use of the Sentinel API for any other reason, we will revoke your access to the Sentinel API by invalidating your client ID and client secret. Any attempt to circumvent this and obtain a new client ID and client secret is strictly prohibited.
We may modify or update the Sentinel API from time to time. We will try to ensure, as far as possible, that future version(s) of the Sentinel API are backwards compatible with at least the most recent previous version, but cannot guarantee that this will always be possible. You should adapt your app to use the most up-to-date version of the Sentinel API promptly following release by Sentinel.
We may also change and update these API Terms of Use from time to time, and will publish any changes on this page. Make sure you check this page for any updates. If you are unable to comply with any amended version of these API Terms of Use, you should stop using the Sentinel API right away.
From time to time, it might be necessary for Sentinel to require you to make changes to your app, in particular to ensure that your app remains in compliance with the API Terms of Use. You should make these changes promptly to avoid any need for Sentinel to revoke your access to the Sentinel API.
You must not use the Sentinel API, or any data or information associated with the users accounts on the Sentinel platform (“User Content”) accessible via the Sentinel API, for any of the following purposes:
When it comes to user data and privacy, all users have a right to know what data is collected about them and how this data will be used. We expect anyone using our API to be equally transparent with respect to their collection and use of user data, including data shared by Sentinel users. We expect you to have a privacy policy in place which explains how you collect, store, process, transfer and use any Personal Data. Your privacy policy should adopt standards that are consistent with Sentinel's privacy policy when it comes to storage and use of Personal Data, and you must ensure that you comply with your privacy policy and all privacy and data protection laws applicable to you at all times (in particular, any use of email addresses that our users have chosen to share must be in line with relevant anti-spam laws, such as the CAN-SPAM Act and the Privacy and E-Commerce Regulations). If you are located outside of the European Economic Area, you must specifically disclose this fact to the user and make it clear to the user that by using your app, the user will be initiating and/or requesting and/or consenting to the transfer of Personal Data to a country that may offer a lesser level of protection of the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of Personal Data. You must not request access to more Personal Data than you actually need for the effective operation of your app, and must not retain Personal Data for longer than is reasonably necessary. Make sure you look after the Personal Data you receive from users, ensuring that the data is stored securely and is safe from unauthorized disclosure or loss. For the purposes of these Terms of Use, "Personal Data" means data relating to an individual user, or that might be used to identify an individual user, including a user's username, email address, city and country, and any information or data from the user's profile such as their avatar or profile picture, website or social media URLs, sounds, followers and/or any comments or posts by that user.
Your app must not include file-save functionality, or otherwise designed to cache, download or persistently store any User Content. Your app may employ session-based caching, but only to the extent reasonably necessary for the operation of your app during that session, and any cached content must cease to be available, accessible or playable within your app at the end of that session. Except for session-based caching referred to above, your app must not offer offline access to any User Content. Unless otherwise permitted by applicable law and/or agreed with the relevant user, when a user revokes access to their Sentinel account, you must ensure that all Personal Data and User Content pertaining to that user is deleted from your app, networks, systems and servers as soon as reasonably possible. If you stop using the Sentinel API altogether or if your API access is revoked, you'll need to delete all User Content and Personal Data in the same way.
Use of the Sentinel API is permitted for some commercial purposes, provided you comply with all other provisions of these API Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.

Notwithstanding the above, Sentinel shall have the sole right to determine whether or not an app is acceptable, and we reserve the right to revoke API access for any app that we determine is not providing added benefit to Sentinel users and/or is not in the best interests of Sentinel or our users.
Access to the Sentinel API is NOT provided free of charge. The price depends on how the API is used and commercialized. Sentinel reserves the right to change the price at any point in the future.
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to impose restrictions and limitations on the number and frequency of calls made by your app to the Sentinel API. You must not attempt to circumvent any restrictions or limitations that we impose. Presently, API calls are limited to 500 per app per day. The limit is soft, meaning that we won’t block you for short term excess. If you anticipate needing more than 500 requests per day for your project, please contact us to request an increase.
When displaying or streaming User Content, you must ensure that your app credits Sentinel as the source of that User Content.
The rights granted by these API Terms of Use do not include any general right to use the Sentinel name or any Sentinel logo or trademark (collectively, the "Sentinel Marks") with respect to your app. Provided you comply with these API Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy, you are permitted to use certain Sentinel Marks for certain limited purposes related to your app, as described in the following paragraphs. These rights apply on a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, royalty-free basis, without any right to sub-license, and may be revoked by Sentinel at any time.
We may occasionally provide buttons, logos and other branding elements featuring certain Sentinel Marks for use within your app, including for the purposes of some of the attributions required above. You can use these resources as we direct, but mustn't make any changes or modifications.
You must not use any Sentinel Marks, or any confusingly similar mark, as the name or part of the name of your app (for example, "Sentineleriffic"), or as part of any logo, icon or branding for your app.
Generally, you must not use any Sentinel Marks in any advertising, promotional or marketing materials for your app. However, you may use the name "Sentinel" or “Sentinel Marine solutions” in a written description of your app in order to describe the fact that your app connects to Sentinel via the Sentinel API but not in the name of your app. If you do this, you must make sure that "Sentinel" always appears either in lower case with the "S" capitalized ("Sentinel"), or in uppercase ("SENTINEL"). You must not use the name in any way that takes unfair advantage of our goodwill or reputation in the Sentinel Marks, and you must not make any suggestion, directly or indirectly, that your app is an official Sentinel app or is endorsed by Sentinel in any way.
You must not operate your app from any domain that includes the word "Sentinel" or any obvious derivation or misspelling of the word "Sentinel", or from any domain that is likely to cause an end user to believe that your app originates from, or is endorsed by Sentinel.
If we amend or update any of the Sentinel Marks or any of the Resources mentioned above, we reserve the right to require you to use the updated versions, and you shall commence using those updated versions in place of the previous versions promptly following any notification from us to that effect (and in the case of software Applications, with effect from your next version release).
You must not issue any press release or similar public announcement regarding your app that makes any reference to Sentinel (except as permitted in the "Promoting Your App" section above) without our prior written consent. If we choose to feature your app in a newsletter or other marketing material (which we don't guarantee to do), you agree that we may use the name of your company and/or the name and logo of your app for this purpose. We may also use your company and app name and logo in presentations, reports, case studies, marketing materials and similar documentation for as long as you make use of the Sentinel API.
There are a few general rules when it comes to use of the Sentinel API:
Everything related to the Sentinel API is owned by Sentinel You hereby acknowledge that, as between you and Sentinel, all rights, title and interest, including without limitation, all intellectual property rights, in and to the Sentinel API, any and all documentation provided by Sentinel in connection therewith, the Sentinel platform and the Sentinel Marks, are owned by Sentinel.
Respect our confidential information Through your use of the Sentinel API, you may come into contact with information, in whatever form, that belongs or relates to Sentinel or its affiliates, including without limitation, the Sentinel API itself, and any other software, documentation, processes, know-how, designs, strategies, and data pertaining to the Sentinel API, User Content, Sentinel users, the Sentinel platform and/or any part or parts thereof ("Confidential Information"). As between you and Sentinel, all Confidential Information remains the property of Sentinel. You shall use any of the Confidential Information only as strictly necessary for the development, testing and operation of your app, and you shall disclose the Confidential Information or any part thereof to any third party only with prior written approval of relevant User. You shall take all reasonable precautions to prevent to unauthorized disclosure or dissemination of the Confidential Information, and if you are a company or other organisation, you shall limit distribution of the Confidential Information to those of your employees who need to know the same in connection with the development, testing and operation of your app. Within five days of a request from Sentinel, and in any event when you stop using the Sentinel API (for whatever reason), you shall delete and destroy and certify the destruction of the same (which shall include irretrievably deleting such Confidential Information from all of your networks and systems). This provision shall survive any termination of the agreement created by these API Terms of Use.
We may develop competing apps You hereby acknowledge that Sentinel may currently or in future develop apps and services that may be similar to or competitive with your app. Nothing in these API Terms of Use shall in any way limit, restrict or preclude Sentinel from pursuing any of these, or any other, present or future business activities, opportunities or interests or from entering into any agreement or transaction with any person.
You are responsible for all things relating to the distribution and use of your app You hereby represent and warrant to Sentinel as follows:
Sentinel is not responsible for User Content You hereby acknowledge and agree that (i) Sentinel users are solely responsible for User Content that they create, post or distribute to, on or through the Sentinel platform, (ii) Sentinel cannot and does not review the User Content created by its users, and Sentinel has no obligation, and does not undertake or assume any duty, to monitor the Sentinel platform for User Content that is inappropriate, that does or might infringe any third party rights, or has otherwise been uploaded in breach of the Privacy Policy or applicable law; and (iii) the availability of User Content on the Sentinel platform and over the Sentinel API is a matter controlled by the relevant User as the user of the relevant User Content, and not by Sentinel (subject to the removal of any item of User Content by Sentinel in response to any reports of copyright infringement made against the User). Sentinel hereby excludes, to the fullest extent permitted by law, any and all liability which may arise from any User Content uploaded to the Sentinel platform by Sentinel users and accessed by you and users of your app, including, but not limited to, any claims for infringement of intellectual property rights, rights of privacy or publicity rights, any claims relating to publication of defamatory, pornographic, obscene or offensive material, or any claims relating to the completeness, accuracy, currency or reliability of any information provided by Users. By using the Sentinel API, you irrevocably waive the right to assert any claim with respect to any of the foregoing, or any other claim related to your use of the Sentinel API, against Sentinel or any of its subsidiaries, affiliates, successors, assigns, employees, agents, directors, officers or shareholders.
Sentinel gives no guarantees regarding the API or other things provided under these terms THE SENTINEL API, THE SENTINEL PLATFORM, THE SENTINEL MARKS AND ALL USER CONTENT AND PERSONAL DATA ACCESSED THROUGH OR VIA THE SENTINEL API, ARE PROVIDED "AS IS", "AS AVAILABLE", AND "WITH ALL FAULTS". WHILST SENTINEL USES ALL REASONABLE ENDEAVOURS TO CORRECT ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS ON THE SENTINEL PLATFORM AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO SENTINEL ATTENTION, SENTINEL MAKES NO PROMISES, GUARANTEES, REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER (EXPRESS OR IMPLIED) REGARDING THE SENTINEL PLATFORM, THE SENTINEL API OR ANY PART OR PARTS THEREOF, THE SENTINEL MARKS OR ANY USER CONTENT OR PERSONAL DATA, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTY OF NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ANY GUARANTEE THAT ANY PARTICULAR ITEM(S) OF USER CONTENT IS, ARE OR WILL BE AVAILABLE ON THE SENTINEL PLATFORM AND/OR WILL BE ACCESSIBLE VIA THE SENTINEL API AT ANY OR ALL TIMES OR AT ALL. SENTINEL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT ANY USER CONTENT IS CLEARED FOR THE USE THAT YOU INTEND TO MAKE OF IT VIA YOUR APP AND DOES NOT PROVIDE YOU WITH THE BENEFIT OF ANY LICENCES (ON A PASS THROUGH BASIS OR OTHERWISE) THAT SENTINEL MAY HAVE OR OBTAIN WITH RESPECT TO ANY USER CONTENT AND ANY SUCH BENEFIT THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE GRANTED OR IMPLIED AS A MATTER OF LAW IS HEREBY EXCLUDED SENTINEL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SENTINEL API WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SENTINEL PLATFORM, THE SENTINEL API, THE USER CONTENT OR PERSONAL DATA OR ANY PART OR PARTS THEREOF, OR THE SERVERS ON WHICH THE SENTINEL PLATFORM OPERATES ARE OR WILL BE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. SENTINEL DOES NOT WARRANT THAT ANY CALLS TO THE SENTINEL API OR ANY TRANSMISSION OF USER CONTENT WILL BE SECURE OR THAT ANY ELEMENTS OF THE SENTINEL PLATFORM DESIGNED TO PREVENT UNAUTHORISED ACCESS, SHARING OR DOWNLOAD OF USER CONTENT WILL BE EFFECTIVE IN ANY AND ALL CASES, AND DOES NOT WARRANT THAT YOUR USE OF THE SENTINEL PLATFORM OR THE SENTINEL API IS LAWFUL IN ANY PARTICULAR JURISDICTION. SENTINEL AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, AND ASSIGNS, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS AND SHAREHOLDERS, SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ALL OF THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOGETHER WITH ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES REGARDING NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. WHERE THE LAW OF ANY JURISDICTION LIMITS OR PROHIBITS THE DISCLAIMER OF IMPLIED OR OTHER WARRANTIES AS SET OUT ABOVE, THE ABOVE DISCLAIMERS SHALL NOT APPLY TO THE EXTENT THAT THE LAW OF SUCH JURISDICTION APPLIES TO THESE API TERMS OF USE.
Any liability that Sentinel does have will exclude the things listed below SENTINEL AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, AND ASSIGNS, AND THEIR RESPECTIVE EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS AND SHAREHOLDERS, SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR:
NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THESE API TERMS OF USE, SENTINEL'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU UNDER THESE API TERMS OF USE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTY EUROS (€50) IN AGGREGATE. NOTHING IN THESE API TERMS OF USE LIMITS OR EXCLUDES THE LIABILITY OF SENTINEL, ITS SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS OR ASSIGNS, OR THEIR RESPECTIVE EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS AND/OR SHAREHOLDERS FOR ANY DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY CAUSED BY ITS OR THEIR NEGLIGENCE OR DELIBERATE ACTS OR OMISSIONS, FOR ANY FORM OF FRAUD OR DECEIT, OR FOR ANY FORM OF LIABILITY WHICH CANNOT BE LIMITED OR EXCLUDED BY LAW. ADDITIONALLY, APPLICABLE LAW MAY NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS OR EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. IN SUCH CASES, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT SUCH LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS REFLECT A REASONABLE AND FAIR ALLOCATION OF RISK BETWEEN YOU AND SENTINEL AND ARE FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF THE BARGAIN BETWEEN YOU AND SENTINEL, AND THAT SENTINEL'S LIABILITY WILL BE LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
You need to be responsible for any loss that we suffer as the result of your use of our API You hereby agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Sentinel, its successors, assigns, affiliates, agents, directors, officers, employees and shareholders from and against any and all claims, obligations, damages, losses, expenses, and costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, resulting from (i) any violation by you of these API Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy; (ii) any claim by any third party that your use of the Sentinel API, the Sentinel Marks or any User Content or Personal Data represents a violation of the intellectual property rights, rights of privacy or other rights of that third party, or any other claim related to your use of the Sentinel API; and (iii) any activity related to your client secret, be it by you or by any other person using your client secret with or without your consent.
You may terminate the agreement created by your acceptance of these API Terms of Use at any time by sending notice in writing to Sentinel at Sentinel d.o.o., Peroj 389, Vodnjan, Croatia or by email confirming such termination, whereupon Sentinel will revoke your access to the API. Sentinel may terminate the agreement created by your acceptance of these API Terms of Use, and may revoke your API access at any time if (i) you are in breach of any of the material provision of these API Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy; (ii) Sentinel elects at its discretion to cease providing access to the Sentinel API to any or all users of the Sentinel API and/or in any or all jurisdictions; (iii) Sentinel decides in its sole discretion that your app does not provide added value to Sentinel users and/or is not in the best interests of Sentinel or our users, including without limitation, in response to complaints from Users or third party rights owners; or (iv) in other reasonable circumstances as determined by Sentinel at its discretion. On termination, all right granted hereunder shall cease. You shall immediately cease all use of the Sentinel API, shall remove any and all Sentinel Marks from your app or any advertising, marketing and promotional materials related thereto, shall destroy all Confidential Information, and shall delete all User Content and Personal Data. The provisions of these API Terms of Use that are intended by their nature to survive termination will survive termination.
These API Terms of Use, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Sentinel with respect to your use of the Sentinel API and any User Content and Personal Data accessed thereby, and supersede any prior agreement between you and Sentinel with respect thereto. Sentinel may assign its rights and (where permissible by law) its obligations under these API Terms of Use, in whole or in part, to any third party at any time without notice, including without limitation, to any person or entity acquiring all or substantially all of the assets or business of Sentinel. You may not assign your rights and duties hereunder, in whole or in part, to any third party without the prior written consent of Sentinel. Should one or more provisions of these API Terms of Use be found to be unlawful, void or unenforceable, such provision(s) shall be deemed severable and will not affect the validity and/or enforceability of the remaining provisions of the API Terms of Use, which will remain in full force and effect. These API Terms of Use are not intended to give rights to anyone except you and Sentinel, save that Users shall be entitled to enforce these API Terms of Use as third party beneficiaries insofar as these API Terms of Use apply to any unauthorised use of their User Content, User Data or other proprietary rights. This does not affect our right to transfer our rights or obligations to a third party as described above. The agreement created by your acceptance of these API Terms of Use is subject to the laws of Croatia, and you and we hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Zagreb, Croatia for resolution of any dispute, action or proceeding arising in connection with these API Terms of Use.
